Africa being a vast and stretched out continent with endless horizons, we shorten our travel time on day 2 and stop at Ehlathini Lodge, easing us into the African feeling. Enjoy an African Sunset overlooking the bushveld
Ehlathini Lodge (Dinner Bed and Breakfast)
Leaving after breakfast we head towards the Botswana Border. Please ensure your travel documents are in order. After the border crossing, we make our way to Francistown. The second biggest city in Botswana. Staying just outside of town we opt for a self catering opportunity. Your guide will assist with a traditional braai (BBQ) on this evening.
Woodlands Lodge (Self catering – guide will assit)
After a hearty breakfast we head out further north towards the Makgadikgadi pans. A salt pan situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana, this is one of the largest salt flats in the world. The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi, which once covered an area larger than Switzerland, but dried up tens of thousands of years ago. Arriving around lunch, we have enough time to prepare for the night out on the pans – an aw-inspiring experience. Driving endlessly onto the pans we reach our overnight “spot”. Surrounded by eery nothingness and a galaxy so close its touchable. This is definitely one of the highlights of your African adventure.
Planet Baobab (Salt pan camping hosted by Planet Baobab)
Today we head towards Maun, the tourist capital of Botswana situated on the southern point of the world-renowned Okavango delta. We make use of our time to stock up on supplies for the next few days camping adventure. If weather and time permit it is worth to take a scenic flight over the Delta. (Optional and can be arranged on arrival or on-line. Be sure to book for the afternoon)
Sedia Hotel (Bed and Breakfast)
Leaving early, we make sure we reach Moremi National Park entrance gate round lunch time for a picnic lunch. After all the formalities we enter the park – eyes open to find that first elephant.
Tonight will be the first night we will be camping among the wildlife – no fencing. Make sure to follow your guides guidelines. At these campsites the ablution is shared with other campers and hot water is not always available.

The next few days we will be moving on to Savuti, an internationally renowned Nature Reserve. Here we will be on the lookout for the big cats and might encounter an Elephant strolling through camp.

Setting out early we make our way via the sandy roads to Kasane, always on the lookout for wildlife. We aim to be in time for the afternoon boat cruise that takes us via the Chobe River into the Chobe National Park. This can also be scheduled for the afternoon on day 11. Day 11 also gives you the opportunity to visit the Victoria falls. This can be arranged as an optional day excursion from our accommodation or via your tour guide.
